The Lesser Antilles… sailing tropical paradise!
The West Indies offers countless destinations for sailboat cruising. Those listed hereafter are for guidance, due to their proximity and exceptional quality of site. But keep in mind that the range of choice is huge and that any other destination can be considered.
Martinique
(1 to 5 days charters)
« Les arbres sont des explosions dont
la dernière étincelle vient écumer sur mes mains… » Aimé Césaire
Located at the heart of the Lesser Antilles group, Martinique is clearly one of the most beautiful islands of the Lesser Antilles. Its name evokes Creole music, rum, spices… . As exotic and tropical as her sisters, Martinique is truly a little bit of France. You will find here a flourishing mixture of French and Caribbean culture.
The north is characterized by dense forests, rivers and waterfalls. The east coast, protected by a long coral reef, is available for sailing. The southern coast is dotted with many picturesque bays and coves.
Two main programs are possible:
The southern Caribbean coast
, with its many picturesque coves, villages and white sand beaches.
The northern Caribbean coast
, where encounters with dolphins and marine mammals are most frequent.
St Lucia
(1 to 5 days charters)
« J’ai rêvé, l’autre soir, d’îles plus vertes que le songe »
st-John Perse
Volcanic in origin, St. Lucia is dominated by dense jungle and a central ridge of forested mountains. The island is ringed with sandy beaches, friendly villages and spectacular scenery at every turn.
In the north, tourist facilities are widely available since a few years. There is definitely always something to do or somewhere to go in st Lucia, with numerous restaurants and bars all over the island.
Street party, pulsating rhythms, Caribbean music… Don’t miss a Friday Night in St. Lucia!
Rodnay Bay, Marigot Bay, Anse Cochon, La Soufriere, Pitons Bay… many anchorages to discover along the island.
The Grenadines Islands
(5 to 15 days charters)
« La perle de la Caraïbe »
Lagoons, white sand, turquoise waters, coral reefs, multiple islands, enchanting anchorages, staggering underwater sceneries, sea turtles, eagle rays and colorful fishes in only 2 meter deep water… The Grenadines will blow your mind!
The site is just breathtaking, with hospitable people and constant easterly trade winds.
If you have never been there, don't think twice, it's your destination!
Northern Part
Juridically attached to st Vincent, this is the most spectacular part of the archipelago. Don't miss the Tobago Cays National Park, the ‘Robert’s righteous and the youth’ bar, the point of viewpoint of the Tobago Cays at Mayreau, the cocktails of the Palm Island’s Restaurant, the Union lagoon…
Southern Part
Juridically attached to the island of Grenada, wilder than the North, unfamiliar to pleasure sailors, it is not uncommon to spend nights alone at the anchorage in the southern Grenadines.
Walks, fishing and underwater hunting are waiting for you.
… and you might be lucky enough to see some sleeper sharks.
